The Somaliland Conference for the Isaaq Genocide Commemoration - consisting of two important events - was the first ever commemoration of the Isaaq Genocide held in the city of Hargeisa, Somaliland. Over 200 attendees participated in both the genocide commemoration and the launching of a book authored by Mr. Nuur Ismail.

Lemkin Institute Co-President, Dr. Elisa von Joeden-Forgey, moderated the opening high-level session of the 4th Global Forum Against the Crime of Genocide, which was held in Yerevan, Armenia, at the Matenadaran Institute of Ancient Manuscripts from December 12-13, 2022.

The Lemkin Institute for Genocide Prevention and the Center for Law and Justice “Tatoyan Foundation” have established cooperative efforts based on the memorandum of agreement signed on 9 September 2022.

The Lemkin Institute for Genocide Prevention strongly supports H. Res. 1430, a resolution recognizing the Bangladesh Genocide of 1971 introduced in the House of Representatives by Rep. Steve Chabot (R-OH) and Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA).

The Lemkin Institute has communicated its support for the U.S. Helsinki Commission’s efforts in bringing attention to evidence of genocide in Ukraine through the drafting of two congressional resolutions that condmen Russia for committing genocide against the people of Ukraine.

The Ukraine-based Regional Center for Human Rights and the US-based Lemkin Institute for Genocide Prevention submitted today a joint communication to the ICC requesting an investigation of the Russian Federation for the crime of genocide pursuant to Article 15 of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.
