Matthew Rich-Tolsma

South African artist-educator, scholar, and group analytic practitioner based in the Netherlands. President of the Board of the Center for Nonviolent Communication; Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and the Institute of Education and Social Equity; Executive Editor of the Pedagogy and Theatre of the Oppressed Journal. His work explores the psychosocial and cultural dimensions of mass harm, focusing on trauma, structural violence, and decolonial pedagogy. He works across the education, governance, and humanitarian sectors, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa and the MENA region. Drawing on Afrikan epistemologies, social sculpture, and group analysis, he supports processes of healing, remembrance, and institutional transformation in post-conflict and postcolonial contexts.
